About LeafNorth
LeafNorth is an independent publication that helps Canadians understand cannabis, the law, the products, and how to use them safely. We're not a dispensary and we don't sell cannabis. We're here to make a confusing, fast-changing topic genuinely clear.
Why we exist
Cannabis has been legal across Canada since 2018, but the information around it never quite caught up. Half of it is marketing, a chunk is left over from the prohibition era, and the rules change province to province. We started LeafNorth to be the calm, straight-talking reference we wished existed, accurate enough to trust, plain enough to actually use.
What you'll find here
We've built this as a reference library, not just a blog:
- Guides, dozens of source-checked guides covering the law, products, dosing, safety, and growing.
- Tools, free, no-signup calculators and finders: edible dosing, a unit converter, a detection-window estimator, an effect finder, and more.
- Province guides, the rules where you live, for all 13 provinces and territories.
- References, a plain-language glossary, the cannabinoids and terpenes that shape an experience, a myth fact-check, and the legalization timeline.
How we're different
We lead with primary sources and link them. We write in plain language, not jargon. We take a clear stance instead of hedging everything. And we're honest about risk, we'd rather tell you to start low and go slow than sell you on a record-breaking THC number. See our editorial standards for exactly how we research and review.
Who it's for
The curious adult who just wants straight answers, new to cannabis, coming back after years away, or long familiar with it and wanting to understand it better. No hype, no judgment.
Independence
We're reader-first and editorially independent. When a page ever includes an affiliate or sponsored link, we tell you, and it never changes what we recommend. We don't sell cannabis, and our guidance is based on the evidence, not on who pays.
LeafNorth publishes general information, not legal or medical advice. Cannabis laws vary by province, consult official sources for your situation. Content is intended for adults of legal age.
